At the beginning of the conference, Karin Stana Kleinschek, the vice-rector for science and research at the University of Maribor, and Vlasta Krmelj, the director of the Energy Agency of Podravje, addressed the attendees. The first day's topic was “How we think and talk about energy”. Energy experts from Slovenia and abroad talked about the importance of their presence in media and in public debate.
On Wednesday they will discuss the physical and biological backgrounds of energy and scale. In the afternoon, the attendees will be able to visit an Out of the Box Lab and watch energy-related experiments carried out by students. Thursday’s topic will be “Energy systems perspective”. In the afternoon there will be an organised field trip to the World of Energy in Krško, which is the first interactive multimedia centre that enables visitors to travel into the world of energy and energetics.
On Friday, the project will conclude with the presentation of the web application 2050 Pathways Calculator made by James Geddes from the UK Government Department of Energy and Climate Change.
